All for the love of a slowcooker

If you are busy and constantly on the go...a slowcoker can save your dinner sanity. They are not only amazing but they are also great for the environment and a wonderful addition to any kitchen. If you have left over veg you can make a simple veg and pasta soup or a sietan roast for more adventurous days. Another idea i am contemplating presently is the addition of a hay box, basically you take a cardboard box, some insulation, like polystyrene and some hay! You heat your food then pop it into the box and leave it to slow cook on its own thermal temperature. A great money saving idea all thanks to the wonderful book 'low cost living'. The picture is a slow cooker vegan stew with dumplings that just bubbled away in the corner. I will post a recipe for this beauty. Baked potatoes are so simple just wrapped in foil and popped in on low for around 6 hours, they dont have the crispy skins but the flavour is more intense and the potatoe a dark yellow. Go on give it a try!

upcycled cupboard

Freecycle kindly gave me a wonderful 1950's cupboard that was in urgent need of someone to hopelessly fall in love with it all over again. I was that person, I could see through the yellowish wood to a new lush colourful cupboard just screaming to get out. First I acquired wonderful samples of wallpaper and some wood glue and set to creating a masterpiece. I cut the pieces to fit and glued them on and voila, a new cupboard emerged from the ashes of its former glory! Some may love it, some may hate it but to me its a jewel.

The first step in the water web!

Hey.....vegan hellos to all who follow the animal free, cruelty free lifestyle. I only have minimal interest in why you are here. Im just glad you are. I am happy to share a small dip into my life by sharing my food hits and misses. I can only hope to inspire someone in the world to take the plunge to veganism....it really isnt that scary. I am an obsessive upcycler and reuser. I am a freecycle junkie if you will. I love most things in a dark vein. And i love the 80's...enough said!
